Notch
Flatpack furniture is a chore to assemble, overly reliant on hardware, and often manufactured with poor materials. Perceived as a temporary solution, users have little personal connection. They will never pass pieces down as heirlooms.
NOTCH flatpack furniture focuses on joinery, rather than hardware. The user’s interaction with their furniture creates a deeper relationship with it. The user feels the cathartic experience of making a piece of quality furniture without
the need to design or fabricate any of the parts.
All details are fully functional and integral to the piece. Tenons in the legs lock the seat into place, while the seat pieces hold up the legs. Wedges fit into place in order to lock it all in. The piece can easily be taken apart as well.
